National Strategic Plan on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide
Human dignity and healing, safety, freedom & equality in our lifetime
Republic of South Africa
This national policy document, developed by South Africa's Interim Steering Committee on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF), presents a multi-sectoral strategic framework for the period 2020–2030. It outlines five key intervention areas: urgent response to survivors, access to justice, changing social norms and behaviour, strengthening accountability structures, and expanding economic opportunities for vulnerable women. The plan recognizes violence across gender identities, ages, and contexts, including violence against children, and was informed by broad public consultation following the 2018 Presidential Summit on GBVF.
