Safe Schools Declaration
An inter-governmental political commitment
Global Coalition to Protect Education from Attack
In 2015, the governments of Norway and Argentina led a process among United Nations (UN) Member States to develop the Safe Schools Declaration, an intergovernmental political agreement dedicated to protecting students, teachers, schools, and universities from the worst effects of armed conflict.
The Safe Schools Declaration outlines a set of commitments for endorsing states, including data collection on attacks, investigation of violations, conflict-sensitive approaches to education, and supporting continuity of learning during armed conflict.
