Highlights

The rapid expansion of digital technologies has transformed how children learn, communicate, and interact, increasing both their online presence and their exposure to risks.

This Technical Brief, developed by Safe to Learn and UNICEF, is structured around the Safe to Learn Call to Action, showing how each Call to Action area and its benchmarks can be strengthened to better address digital risks in, around, and through schools. It draws on the Safe to Learn technical package and UNICEF’s global guidance on child protection in digital education and is designed to support countries and partners across all contexts. Rather than serving as an operational manual, this brief provides a framework and illustrative guidance to help countries integrate digital safety into national laws and policies, school practices, whole-school interventions, budgets, data and multi-sectoral systems.
