29 December 2025 - Safe to Learn welcomes Education International as a new Coalition partner. As a global union federation, Education International is the voice of teachers and education workers, representing more than 33 million teachers and education support personnel through 375 member organizations in 180 countries and territories.

Education International works to promote the rights of educators everywhere and to defend the fundamental right to quality education. At the heart of this work is the recognition that effective teaching and learning depend on safe, violence-free learning environments where both students and teachers can thrive and reach their full potential. This principle is reflected in Education International’s Declaration on Professional Ethics, which commits education personnel to protecting students’ well-being and safeguarding them from bullying and physical or psychological abuse. Creating safe, inclusive, and intersectional learning spaces grounded in human rights and democratic values is therefore central to Education International’s work.

Working at both the grassroots and global levels, Education International advances advocacy, research, and capacity-building efforts that support educators as champions of children’s rights and empowers teachers to create safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments. For example, through its Schools Shall Be Safe Sanctuaries declaration, the organization calls on the international community to protect education in times of conflict and to recognize its vital role in promoting peace worldwide.

As a Safe to Learn Coalition partner, Education International brings the voice, expertise, and collective power of teachers worldwide to advance shared efforts to ensure safe learning environments for every child and educator.
